Actiu hosts the FAD 2012 Awards and a vibrant Pecha Kucha

NOVEMBER 2012 | 2 minutes

The facilities at Actiu Technology Park were the stage chosen to carry out the exhibition for the finalists for the Awards for Architecture and Interior Design 2012. This is the first time following 54 editions, that it has been hosted outside of Catalonia and taken place in the Industrial environment in the Valencian Community.

More than 200 people attended from the academic, business, institutional and professional world arriving from all over Valencia, Albacete, Murcia and Barcelona. The president of Actiu group Vicente Berbegal opened the event with a motivational and optimistic speech “We will not talk about the crisis but a moment of tremendous opportunities. It is important to find new paths, everything is different and nothing will ever be the same and for this reason it is fun. For those young people who have joined the company (there are a great number of them in this room) it is a challenge”.

The president of Arquinfad, Silvia Farriol, thanked the willingness of companies such as Actiu for their development and revitalization of design, architecture and creativity. Furthermore it has highlighted the great value of FAD Awards amongst professionals from the sector and pointed out that it is the oldest in Spain (created in 1958) and the second oldest in Europe. Arquinfad is a cultural, independent and non profit association whose objective is to group together and support professionals and institutions involved in the design of spaces in its broadest sense. Actiu, in its interest in developing design and creativity, has maintained a close working relationship with Arquinfad since last May.

Before the visit to the FAD Awards exhibition, the attendees were able to experience live the hectic pace of Pecha Kucha with the participation of eight well known representatives from the world of architecture and design. Carlos Abadia and Paco Garcia fromMoho Arquitectos, Marcelo Alegre from AlegreIndustrial Studio, Jesus Olivares from COR Arquitectes, Natalie Gidron fromBarbarela Studio, Patricia Reus from Blancafort Reus Studio, Borja Garcia from Estudio Borja García and Paco Leiva from Grupo Aranea, have all discussed their projects, jobs and impressions about design, architecure and sustainability. Furthermore, Vicente Castillo, CTAA, presented the new social Plazatio architecture network, free and open to professionals, companies and citizens.

Actiu showed all the guests the facilities, on a tour of the logistics and corporative buildings. They were also given the opportunity to see a preview of the audiovisual project ‘Innovation, Sustainability and People’. Innovation, Sustainability and People talk about a world where industrial production processes and sustainability go hand in hand, where eco-design and healthy environments are the key to the new workspaces and where the people are absolute stars for human value, strategy and professionalism.

At the end, an enjoyable networking session took place amongst the guests whilst eating canapes and drinking beers.
