IFMA Territorial Forum in the Valencian Community

Last Wednesday 7 March, the first Forum IFMA Territorial about Competencies and Practices of Facility Management (FM) was held in the Chamber of Commerce in Alicante, an initiative by IFMA (The Spanish Association of Facility Management) in which Actiu, has collaborated in the organization as a territorial delegate in the Valencian Community, in order to raise awareness of the competencies and practices of the Facility in a conceptual framework.

This is the first seminar of several which will take place over the year according to a program of activities  defined by Actiu as the Valencian delegate. The forum was attended by a large group of professionals in engineering, architecture and design, as well as entrepreneurs who manage their strategic projects and property management services in the company.

In this session it moved the need of adaptation of professionals to the world of FM so that companies and public adminstration can be more profitable and efficient to manage resources, and encourage the competitiveness and sustainability of different economic sectors.

The forum, structured into two parts, began with the businessman and teacher Angel Tejedor Velasco, director of Training for IFMA Spain and former president of the Spanish society of Facility Management, who defined the profile of FM and its objectives . After a break , in the second part it presented some projects recognized as 'Best Practice' in Facility Management with thanks to its practices and solutions  during its construction and use.  In this way Luis Manuel Barajas from Auxideico explained the process of adaptation from his department at Facility Manangement which currently manages 16 shopping centres. On the other hand Jordi Llargues Boncompte of Bayer Hispania explained how the company and his department effectively resolved humidity problems which would have led to illnesses of LS in his employees, that originated in the new coporate headoffice of Bayer in Barcelona.

Finally, Actiu presented its project Actiu Technological Park, awarded with Best & Good Practice 09 by IFMA Spain in 2010, an award that allows the company to be present at the World Congress FM World Workplace celebrated in Atlanta (USA) in the same year. During the presentation, Soledat Berbegal described the management process and the move to the new facilities, explaining how Actiu had been able to manage property, people and the equipment, faithful to its business philosophy of supporting the territory, self sufficiency of resources and sustainability;  Finally releasing the latest  LEED GOLD certificate awarded by the USGBC for its new facilities, and recognizing Actiu as one of the most sustainable industries in Europe.
