Los Cubos

Spain

The emblematic Los Cubos building in Madrid, a symbol of brutalist architecture constructed in 1974 by architects Michel Andrault, Pierre Parat, Aydin Guvan and Alain Capieu, is being reinvented to become one of the most representative office projects in the city . With almost 19,250 m2 of space distributed over nine floors, its interior offers open and flexible spaces that are committed to the well-being and maximum comfort of its occupants.

"Los Cubos is a space full of volume, creativity, light and versatility. It's with these objectives that Cushman & Wakefield designed its Marketing Suite on the pilot floor, to offer a warm and updated space that would transmit all the values of the building whilst at the same time create a unique experience for its visitors", says Irene Climent, architect at Cushman & Wakefield.

The Chapman Taylor team has been in charge of designing and realising the comprehensive reform of the building owned by Henderson Park, managed by Therus and marketed by CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield. Actiu has participated in the project by equipping the pilot office on the ninth floor with comfortable and efficient workspaces, where future clients can experience first-hand the benefits of the renovated building.

Surrounded by generous windows that flood the interior with an abundance of natural light, the pilot office represents any one of the floors of a building with a maximum occupancy of one workstation for every 7 m2, where the open spaces coexist with meeting rooms, informal meeting corners and social areas. Flexible and open plan, its design perfectly reflects the high environmental rating of a building recognised with the LEED® GOLD certificate and with over 4,000 m2 of terraces.

Equipped with all the technology and furniture demanded by modern office buildings, the pilot office combines open spaces for idea sharing, with quieter areas for meetings in smaller groups, or individual work. All these spaces are equipped with light furniture, which allows for easy re-organisation if necessary

Open plan and very bright, the large open space that presides over the office personifies the new work philosophy, where the traditional office gives way to vastly different working environments. From operating stations that combine the visual lightness of the  Longo tables with the great versatility of the Stay chairs, to Longo POD sound absorbing modules for private meetings, or small living rooms equipped with Whass chairs or Noom 10 hammocks, together with an Arkitek side table, for informal meetings.

Separated from the large open-plan area by a floor-to-ceiling glass enclosure, the meeting room boasts a combination that is both elegant and sober, with a white  Arkitek table, comfortable grey upholstered  Noom 30 chairs and a  Longo side table.

The light tones chosen for the upholstery help to always recreate a relaxing atmosphere, which is committed to the well-being and comfort of its occupants, and in which plants and personalised decoration elements are interspersed. The result is a flexible workspace, which is adapted to current times, to work, meet and organise events.
