An office chair to work from home

An office chair to work from home

JUNY 2020 | 3 minutes

If we stop to think about how many hours we spend working sitting down, it is easy to conclude that comfort must be a priority. A comfortable position thanks to ergonomic chairs, a desk at the correct height, and the items we work with are essential for making the workspace efficient instead of slowing us down.

This is one of the shortcomings that has been seen as remote working has become a necessity in the current environment: the lack of equipment at home for a work space that allows us to do our job in the same conditions as in the office.

Whether it's to create a home office or to equip office workspaces, choosing the right task seating is the first and possibly the most important step. An ergonomic chair that adapts to the characteristics of each person prevents discomfort and fatigue throughout the day and prevents health problems associated with holding a poor posture for many hours.

The designer Marcelo Alegre, of Alegre Design, explains that one of the main factors to consider when designing a work chair is ergonomics. A characteristic that is based on postural correction and supporting the body. The user thus avoids supporting their own weight and transfers this function to the chair itself, which can be adjusted in different ways to tailor it to the individual needs of each person.

The goal, says the designer, is to create a tool for each person to be able to sit better and, therefore, reduce the number of postural changes made throughout the day and improve their well-being.

In this new remote working environment, regulations that protect people in their workplace in the office should be rolled out, task seating ensure employee well-being and efficiency in both working from home and in person in the office. So, in the face of this new normal where working from home seems to be here to stay, "furniture options have finishes adapted to home environments", notes Marcelo Alegre.

In this sense, ACTIU has a wide range of solutions to equip workspaces whether at home or in the office.

For example, a good solution is the chairs from the TNK Flex range, a product that provides two key features: an ergonomic design, based on support, and interaction with the user. It has a smart backrest, which rotates and embraces the back, automatically adjusting to all movements without the user having to activate any mechanism.

The backrest is also one of the main features of the TRIM range, a chair that offers extensive customisation options and features a height-adjustable backrest that enhances comfort. It is a chair designed to provide comfort during the busiest of workdays.

The STAY model, in addition to the backrest being fully adjustable, has armrests that are also adjustable, and all from the seated position, allowing the user to adapt to every situation with minimal effort. In addition, the concave-shaped padded seat helps keep the pelvis in the correct position.

The EFIT model has a backrest that adapts to the user's movement, complemented by the automatically adjusted built-in lumbar support, which provides a high degree of comfort. Its design is also inspired by the versatility and customisation of the younger generations in the workforce, those who seek design without compromising on comfort and ergonomics.

Another model that adapts perfectly to any work space, whether in the office or at home, is the CRON chair, which combines the quality of an executive armchair, imposing but slim, with an aspect of functional inspiration, comfort, light and dynamism.

There are many possibilities for our workspace, whether in the office or at home, with guaranteed comfort. You just need to choose the option that best suits the user's characteristics and their work dynamics.
