Sheba Medical Center
January 2000 | 25 minutes

Actiu is present, together with its partner Pitaro Furniture, in the Sheba Medical Center in the Israeli city of Ramat Gan. A centre founded in 1948 as a military hospital, which in 1953 became a civilian hospital, and took its name from its then director, Dr. Chaim Sheba. The largest medical centre in Israel and one of the most important in the Middle East, it was recently recognised as the ninth best hospital in the world by Nesweek magazine.

With excellent and personalised care, Sheba Medical Center has been combining the most innovative medical and technological advances with holistic care and a commitment to wellbeing for years.

From this approach, those responsible for the project seek to humanise a space, the hospital, until recently relegated to its merely functional aspect and whose aesthetics play a fundamental role in the recovery and health of patients and their companions, as well as the healthcare staff who spend many hours working in it.

To respond to this new hospital architecture, which is constantly evolving and which increasingly incorporates more psychological and emotional considerations into its design, the Sheba Medical Center team has entrusted Pitaro Furniture, founded in 1960 and which has been collaborating with international furniture brands such as Actiu since the 2000s to provide innovative solutions for its clients.

The Longo Nomada range of armchairs has been chosen to furnish the spacious and bright waiting areas. Its contemporary design and clean lines enhance the feeling of calm and wellbeing, and its modular nature allows the creation of infinite configurations to adapt to each space, through simple benches attached to the wall or freestanding islands, with or without arms and with side tables that add comfort.

With a tubular steel structure and seat and backrest in flexible polyurethane injection foam upholstered in elegant shades of blue and maroon, Longo is durable and resistant to the wear and tear, use and intensive cleaning required in this type of environment, while guaranteeing a high level of hygiene.
