Resistance to snagging propensity

ASTM D 3939:13(2017) 4-5
In a snag test, a fabric sample is placed in a cylindrical drum and a spiked ball is randomly bounced against the rotating fabric. After 600 cycles, the degree of damage is rated on a scale of 1 to 5. A rating of 4 to 5 means very high snag resistance. In practice, this means that snagging is unlikely to occur, although prolonged and intense impact with animals may cause surface pellets to form, which can be easily removed by simple brushing.

Caution: Scratching is a natural feline behavior. A rating of 4 to 5 does not mean that a fabric is immune to the impact of animal claws. To protect upholstered furniture from prolonged and severe scratching, especially from cats, scratching posts or alternative protective pads are recommended. Destructive scratches due to extreme feline behavior are not grounds for a claim.
