Business and education: preparing for the jobs of Industry 5.0

Companies have a decisive role to play in preparing new generations. Opening spaces, sharing processes and transferring knowledge to educational centres is not only an investment in talent, but also a tangible expression of social responsibility and commitment to the territory and its productive fabric. When training is connected with industrial reality, learning becomes more meaningful and industry strengthens its capacity to evolve in a sustainable way.

Based on this conviction, Actiu is participating in the Digital Workplaces for Industry 5.0project , a collaborative initiative that brings together the vocational training centres IES Cotes Baixes and CIFP Miguel Altuna and the engineering company Aurrelan to analyse how the transition to this new industrial model is being transferred to real jobs and which skills are becoming key. The project takes place in a real business environment: Actiu's facilities, which become a shared learning space between company and training.

Actiu promotes the connection between business and training to prepare new generations for Industry 5.0 in a real industrial environment.

The project: technology designed to accompany people

The project is developed through a digital workstation designed to assist the person during the assembly process. The station guides each phase of the task, indicates what to do at each moment and validates the operation before moving on. At Actiu it is applied to an assembly line for chair components, where precision is part of the daily work.

The aim is not for the technology to do the job, but to help do it better. The workstation structures the process, provides clarity and facilitates progressive learning. The person knows at all times what is expected at each step and receives immediate confirmation, which reduces errors and builds confidence from day one.

Actiu's engineering teamis directly involved in the development of this station , working together with Aurrelan in the definition of the process and in the adaptation of the system to the production reality. As David Sánchez, Engineering Director of Actiu, explains : "The system guides step by step what you have to do and checks at each stage that everything is correct before continuing. This allows you to learn faster and maintain quality from the start".

This approach also has a clear impact in terms of inclusion. By setting paces, offering continuous support and structuring the work in a comprehensible way, the job facilitates the inclusion of people with disabilities or neurodivergent profiles. Accessibility is integrated into the design of the process itself, not as an afterthought.

Connecting industry and training from practice

Our participation in this project responds to a specific way of understanding the relationship with the educational sphere. Collaborating with vocational training centres allows us to share a real vision of current industrial work and, at the same time, to learn from those who are training the professionals who will join companies in the coming years.

For teachers, working in an active production environment helps to understand how these technologies are integrated into everyday life and what implications they have on the organisation of work. For us, collaboration provides an external view that helps to review processes, detect improvements and reinforce innovation connected to people and the territory.

This relationship is built on shared experience. It is not about explaining how the industry should be, but about working together on real cases and learning along the way.

Growing through collaboration

Beyond technical development, this experience reinforces a way of working that we consider key at Actiu: to grow through collaboration. Sharing processes, opening spaces for learning and building joint projects allows us to improve as a company and contribute to the development of the industrial and educational environment that surrounds us.

Innovation makes sense when it is tested in real contexts, when it improves people's work and when it generates opportunities for shared learning. Projects like this show that the future of industry is best built when business and education move forward together, with responsibility and a common vision of what is already present.
