Malaga

New Singulab headquarters, fluid and dynamic

Target

Refurbishing its new workspace, situated next to one of the city's main western accesses and which had remained unfinished since its construction, was the challenge that the Malaga-based architecture and engineering practice Singulab faced in this project. A practically abandoned premises, but with infinite possibilities and a strong personality, thanks to the abundant natural light that crosses the curtain wall of its façade and a great free height.

From the outset, Singulab was clear about its strategy of respecting the nature and identity of the place, through specific but forceful interventions that turn the office into much more than just a workplace.

Solution

Distributed over two floors, the new headquarters responds to a programme of needs that Singulab had already been 'studying' since its old location, where open areas coexist with more 'enclosed' rooms for meetings and offices, and intermediate areas for exchange or training. A large, fluid and dynamic workspace, full of colours and textures, where the original structure and installations coexist with free-standing volumes, glazed planes, yellow-tinted metal sheets and a railing that has become a partition.

Far removed from the compartmentalisation associated with the conventional office, the operative area is designed to be open-plan, with ergonomic Stay chairs and versatile Power tables that allow height adjustment and encourage mobility and postural changes. Workers can also interact with each other or with clients in a relaxed and informal design area, where the Twist videoconferencing table facilitates online meetings.

The office includes more enclosed areas, separated from the main space by glass planes, where it is possible to hold small meetings or 'retreat' to make phone or video calls, as well as a management office and a small office where you can unwind while enjoying the view. Spaces equipped with programmes such as the Urban and Mit chairs, Cron armchairs and Tabula tables, with which Actiu responds and adapts to every need.
