From the footprint left to the footprint avoided

Every action leaves a footprint: on the environment, on cities and on people. But there are also footprints that, when avoided, define a new form of engagement with the planet.

Footprint avoidance means thinking before acting, designing with purpose and producing responsibly. It means transforming the way we conceive spaces and processes, so that the well-being of people and the health of the planet move forward together in the face of climate change.

At Actiu we work with this conviction: that of an industry that does not wait to repair the damage, but rather designs to avoid it. We believe that progress is based on producing responsibly, reducing impact and generating more sustainable development.

A look at sustainability that transforms the way we design, produce and inhabit spaces in the face of climate change.

Avoiding footprint starts with thinking differently

For decades, industrial success has been measured by the ability to produce more. Today, real progress is measured by what we avoid: unnecessary emissions, waste and impacts.

The future requires rethinking everything: what we make, how we make it and what happens after it is used. That's why we incorporate circular economy principles into industrial design: prioritising repair over replacement, extending product life and facilitating the separation of materials for recyclability.

Every time we design, we seek to minimise impact and maximise value.

Commitments aligned with a sustainable industry

Our climate change strategy translates into actions that promote a more efficient and responsible production model:

Registered carbon footprint:
We calculate and analyse our emissions in Scope 1, 2 and 3 from 2022 as a basis for establishing reduction plans.

Circular economy applied to design:
We prioritise durability, modularity and maintenance to extend the useful life of each product.

Responsible materials:
We use certified wood and work to increase the use of recycled and recyclable materials.

Local suppliers:
More than 70% of our suppliers are local, reducing logistical emissions and supporting the economic development of the territory.

Renewable energy:
We are moving towards a cleaner energy model by integrating renewable sources in our production facilities.

Industrial energy efficiency:
We implement measures to reduce energy consumption in our production lines.

Certifications that endorse our commitment:

  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management.
  • ISO 14006 Ecodesign.
  • LEVEL® 2 by FEMB in our products.
  • B Corp™, verified environmental and social impact.

In addition, our products contribute to obtaining sustainable architecture certifications such as LEED® and WELL™, common in projects committed to environmental efficiency and wellbeing in spaces.

Well-being, people and spaces that care

Sustainability is also measured by the positive impact we have on people and the environment. At Actiu we believe that caring for the planet means caring for those who inhabit it, and that progress is only real if it promotes well-being, inclusion and opportunities.

Our social commitment is reflected in the creation of stable, quality employment, collaboration with foundations and educational centres and the promotion of programmes that encourage training and professional development in our community. We are committed to a business model that grows together with its environment, strengthening the industrial fabric and contributing to the progress of the territory.

This same philosophy guides the way we conceive our spaces. Through our Life Friendly Spaces concept, we design environments that promote health, creativity and the connection between people and their environment. We incorporate natural light, ergonomics, thermal and acoustic comfort and healthy materials so that each project brings wellbeing and balance.

We innovate to keep moving forward

We incorporate technology with a purpose: to improve processes, optimise resources and create solutions that respond to the environmental and social challenges of today's industry.

For this reason, we invest in R&D&I to explore lower impact materials, optimise production structures and develop solutions that reduce the consumption of resources without compromising quality or design. In this way, we are moving towards a more efficient and competitive industry, capable of generating value without disassociating itself from its environment.

In this way, we are moving towards a more efficient and competitive industry, capable of generating value without disengaging from its environment.

Looking ahead with purpose

The future is not only defined by progress, but by the footprint we choose not to leave. We believe that progress is about taking care of our surroundings, respecting resources and creating spaces that give back to the environment more than they take.

Each project, each design and each improvement is born from the same certainty: that industry can be an ally of the planet. That it is possible to innovate without exhausting resources and to give back to the environment part of what it gives us.

Avoiding the footprint is also building the future

Avoiding a negative footprint is a way of moving forward with a conscience. It means acting with tomorrow in mind, understanding that the real legacy is in the footprints that are not left behind and that every action, big or small, can make a difference in the face of climate change.

Faced with the climate challenge, we seek not only to manufacture furniture, but to contribute a vision of responsible industry. That is why we design, produce and inhabit spaces based on sustainability, innovation and respect for life.

Because the future is not only built with what we make, but also with what we choose not to damage. And in that choice lies our way of caring, of inspiring and of building a future that leaves room for balance.
