Sant Cugat del Vallés, Barcelona

The great 'flagship' of Oca Global

Target

With more than 12 years of experience and a presence in 15 countries, the international private equity group Oca Global, a benchmark in inspection, certification, testing, consultancy, prevention and training, has moved its headquarters to Sant Cugat del Vallés. The new building, which had been closed for many years and was very deteriorated, needed to be completely refurbished to create a more modern image in line with its corporate values, where it could grow comfortably and meet its future needs.

Oca Global's philosophy is to provide its employees with a spacious, comfortable workplace, with 'green' views of the outdoors and where fluid communication between its teams is encouraged.

The morphology of the building, with a ground floor and three above it recessed towards a large atrium, inspires the design of the new Oca Global offices, as a 'flagship' with a large atrium that connects all levels and houses informal meeting areas. The intervention generates diaphanous spaces, which avoid physical separations and where all the rooms are strategically placed so as not to cut off the view towards the central atrium.

The architecture studio in charge of the refurbishment, Denys & von Arend, has chosen Actiu to equip the space "for its quality vs. price, the versatility and timelessness of its furniture and how it works in almost all office styles". Functional and ergonomic solutions, such as the Vital Pro desks or the Stay chairs in the operative area, coexist with elegant Cron armchairs, which add exclusivity to the management area; soft seating programmes for more relaxed moments; and comfortable Noom armchairs for visitors and clients.

Ventilation and air conditioning also play an important role in a building with open facades and large windows that change their glass and incorporate thin aluminium louvres to control sunlight. In the car park, another major feature of the project, coloured LED strips and large-scale signage turn the parking experience into something extraordinary, demonstrating how it is possible to apply interior design to any space.
