The well-known sports equipment and fashion products firm Adidas has entrusted Oxígeno Arquitectura with the design of its new offices in Mexico City. The architectural studio has created a unique space, where local identity coexists with the hallmark of a brand that its workers feel part of. A project that establishes an innovative, consistent and at the same time flexible standard, adapted to new ways of working in constant evolution, and in which Actiu has participated together with its partner in Mexico, Organitec.

THE OBJECTIVE

In response to Adidas' needs, Oxigeno Arquitectura has created a connected space, which improves well-being and productivity, and where Actiu's furniture helps to promote a dynamic and healthy way of working.

With its change of headquarters, Adidas Mexico seeks above all to improve the quality of life of its workers, through a space that, both for its design and its location - in a location that allows many mobility options and makes workers start their day less stressed - brings them benefits and advantages in their day to day.

The new offices had to materialise some of the most important aspects of the brand's philosophy, such as having open spaces for collaboration and avoiding assigned workstations, allowing any place to be used by any team and not limiting the position of each worker, who can sit in one area or another, depending on the task they are carrying out.

THE SOLUTION

Collaborative Dynamism

With the aim of generating greater communication and exchange of ideas, the number of tables was reduced to 6 for every 10 employees, encouraging them to use other spaces, such as the cafeteria, soft seating areas, individual rooms or phone-boxes.

Ergonomic adaptability

This dynamism is enhanced by the different heights of the Vital Pro tables and Efit chairs and stools that invite postural changes in the operational area. To maintain unity, these same chairs are used in the meeting rooms, while in the cafeteria, lighter furniture is used, with Plek folding tables and Tabula high tables.

Art, versatile furniture and connectivity

Art, through colourful interventions by artists such as Oscar Torres, which encourage creativity and innovation; and technology equipped with state-of-the-art connectivity and digital tools, play a key role in a design where communication goes far beyond the space itself and video conferencing facilities and smart meeting rooms enable seamless collaboration with any corner of the world. The art, through colourful interventions by artists such as Oscar Torres, which encourage creativity and innovation; and technology equipped with the most advanced connectivity and digital tools, play a fundamental role in a design where communication goes far beyond the space itself and videoconferencing facilities and intelligent meeting rooms allow for seamless collaboration with any corner of the world.

Commitment to sustainability

Another important point is sustainability, materialised through low-emission materials and finishes, which ensure minimal environmental impact, and energy-efficient technologies, such as LED lighting and motion sensors that contribute to energy conservation.

Natural light and biophilia to improve wellbeing

By orienting the work areas towards the University City and the University Stadium, natural daylight enters the building, avoiding dependence on artificial lighting and promoting a healthy working environment. Biophilic elements, such as indoor plants or the green wall supporting the iconic Adidas logo, emphasise the connection with nature in offices that reflect the brand's commitment to employee wellbeing, sustainability and a design with a strong local identity.
