The State Public Employment Service (SEPE) and the Directorate General for Employment of the Public Employment Service of Madrid have chosen Actiu to furnish its new headquarters in Santa Eugenia, Vallecas (Madrid). Their offices are ergonomic and dynamic, thanks to Actiu's help, along with that of its distributor Momo Art Interiorismo, in a design that helps to improve their public facing services and make them more efficient, as well as improving the working environment for their employees.

LC PROYECTOS: Design, Management and Direction of Architecture.

Architect: Ignacio López Chaper, Project Manager.

Comprising over 2,000 square metres, the headquarters occupies the ground and first floors of a building shared with other businesses. Two distinct levels for the SEPE offices on the ground floor, with the Directorate General for Employment of the Public Employment Service of Madrid on the first floor, both with the same open, fluid spatial concept that gives a sense of wellbeing.

The floor dedicated to SEPE has impact on entry, with details in bright mustard tones set against dark grey background curtains. The numerous waiting areas are furnished with Longo chairs separated by Link wall dividers. Wooden battens surround them without enclosing them, providing privacy while at the same time allowing visitors to see what is going on in the large open plan workspace and public service areas.

To achieve a more modern look, Twist tables have been chosen for the more open areas, the public service areas on both floors and the workstations in the SEPE office areas. With a characteristic and dynamic structure, this flexible and functional modular system can respond to very different demands, enabling communication between workers while at the same time, safeguarding their privacy thanks to the screens between the workstations.

In terms of the open space on the first floor, Vital Plus 300 Gen Triple tables with screens have been chosen, their characteristic organic shapes occupying a space where people want to work. To encourage this freedom of movement, and just like in SEPE's operational area, the ergonomic chairs Tnk Flex with a head rest have been added together with Bucks pedestals.

The public service areas are completed with light Noom 50 chairs featuring closed arms and a four legged base, adding a more informal touch without foregoing comfort. Link wall dividers, modular cupboards and desks finished off with planters help to separate the zones without the space losing its open and fluid feel.

On the floor reserved for the Directorate General for Employment of the Public Employment Service of Madrid the corporate red colour has been added to certain furniture pieces, such as the dynamic, winding Bend modules in the waiting areas and various office chairs in the open space.

The rear of the space is reserved for a more private, cosy room furnished with various Longo Pods, a one to one system offering a space where meetings with clients who require greater privacy can be held.

To add a distinctive. more elegant touch, the meeting rooms and offices are furnished with Arkitek tables, again in organic shapes and with a robust structure that has been manufactured entirely from aluminium. Noom 50 chairs, swivel chairs with a head rest and Cron  visitor chairs add personality to each space, which are finished off with Block 30 low storage furniture pieces and Caddy 500 from the Agile collection versatile wall dividers, with blackboards, interactive screens and other integrated features.

In the training room, and to help respond to the different uses and change the configuration of the space, the Talent foldable office desks are combined with Noom 50 chairs. The ability to fold the tables down and stack the chairs (in groups of up to 30 units and 10 standard) allows the space to be left completely open when required.

Open and flexible, the new offices housing SEPE and the Directorate General for Employment of the Public Employment Service of Madrid transform the image traditionally associated with institutional spaces into a modern, friendly and welcoming environment, where both workers and visitors alike feel comfortable and welcome.
