ESG and ESARC Dijon: reinventing education

Education

Target

With centres all over the world and considered the largest Education Group in Europe, Galileo Global Education (GGE) was founded in 2011 to try to reinvent independent higher education on a global scale. Committed to transforming education, the Group has entrusted the French interior design studio, Cha Studio, with the image of its private business schools, ESG and ESARC, in Dijon. A team effort, where interior designer Charlène Desclerc and the school's director have worked hand in hand to ensure that each space reflects the specialities taught in its classrooms .

The colours and furnishings are aligned with the different branches of education, and the wide variety of spaces help students to imagine what the offices where they will work in the future will look like.

Solution

Organised over three floors and accessed through a welcoming entrance area, the school is divided into two chromatically very different areas, which take their colours - terracotta in the ESARC and purple in the ESG - from the GGE logo. Conceived from the same approach, both alternate classrooms, both fixed and flexible, with more informal areas where students can meet to chat or relax.

In line with the Group's philosophy, Actiu has furnished the space with programmes that are adapted to the different specialities, such as the Talent lift-up, mobile and folding tables, or the Dynamic fixed ones, and the Whass operative chairs. In some classrooms it has opted for 'agile' furniture, which allows the configuration to be changed with little effort and adapts perfectly to a flexible and changing interior design; and in others, mobile walls allow different spaces to be joined or separated.

Beyond the classrooms, the interstitial spaces play a fundamental role, as 'refuges' for meeting and socialising that make the most of every corner. Places that are close and domestic thanks to programmes such as the soft seating Bend, which provides great versatility and allows for its transformation according to each moment and need. In the cafeteria, light Tabula tables and Wing chairs facilitate this movement and change in layout.
