Arnau de Villanova Hospital, patient-centred

Health

Objective

The outpatient building at Arnau de Vilanova Hospital was designed with the aim of creating a patient-centred healthcare environment, featuring welcoming spaces and neutral colours that promote a sense of calm and well-being. This extension to a facility that is essential to healthcare provision in Lleida is designed to treat more than 2,000 people every day, enabling the hospital to build closer relationships with patients and offer them the utmost comfort.

Human-centred, ergonomic, warm and inviting, the furniture designed by Actiu aims to reduce anxiety and improve patient well-being and experience.

Solution

Designed by SPG Arquitectura as part of a hospital that, since its opening in 1956, has undergone successive extensions and alterations, the outpatient building at Arnau de Vilanova Hospital opts for an industrialised solution based on order, repetition and structural simplicity. A simple and clear architecture that engages with the existing structures and the surroundings, and places the well-being of its users at the forefront.

Actiu has participated in the project together with its partner Contel, through functional and ergonomic proposals that promote healthcare and focus on people. Programmes such as the Vital Pro table prototype, designed by SPG Arquitectura specifically for the consultation rooms of this project, with rounded corners and without structural legs to make it easier for doctors and patients to meet more closely and comfortably.

In the waiting rooms and in response to clients' request, "who wanted to replace the usual functional benches with a more comfortable and relaxed solution", Longo soft seating was chosen. This modular programme allows for a wide variety of configurations, with Valencia upholstery by Spradling, selected for its technical properties for sanitary use and which guarantees optimum antibacterial, stain and fungus protection. Next to it, and to facilitate reading or teleworking for users while waiting, several Tabula tables are installed with comfortable Noom 60 chairs.
